This philosophy is different from others. It is perhaps not a "religion", perse. There is no ultimate divine incarnate, no anthropomorphic God descended down, no messiah. There are many who claim to be prophets, and they are seen with varying degrees of authenticity and dishonesty. It depends who you ask.
Like many things that are purported to be set in stone, the only consistent force within this philosophy is change. What was before is not what is now. There may be similarities, or distinct traditions. But the current form has been obviously reinterpreted and augmented by the generations it has passed through. And we accept that it is the now that is most true to us, and what may have been the truth before is no longer, unless it continues to resonate.
