It's Nothing to do with Age

We had our first open mic at the Big Creative Space last Friday. I played "Lemon Tree" song with Montana, and two songs that I wrote by myself. This is the first original song I performed, "Nothing to do with Age". I play it with a capo on the third fret:
Am        C
it was truly something
D (007770)    G
a sight to behold
sitting up in the grass
wait'n in the summer gold

seeing her in the field there
all dressed up in folds
striding like through woodlands
an' holdin' to her own

it's a hard thing to tell
and also to be told
that her brother's not doing
as well as we'd'av hoped

through the longest winter
my short life's ever known
some of us came up harder,
and some stay just as cold
C        Am
and don't the seasons do that
(020210)        (G)
all they do is change
it's nothing to do with living
nothing to do with age

things falling into places
as though they were meant to be
and the days are growing longer
or so it seems
she was truly someone
a friend among friends
who knew then what t'say
and has said it, again

"although it seems a long ways
a stretch across seas
I will be with you
in the days I am away

"my family has fallen
on quite hard times
and my dear brother's callin'
me to his bedside

"so don't forget that you will
be still on my mind
even if I can't see you
here with my own eyes"
and don't the seasons do that
all they do is change
it's nothing to do with living
nothing to do with age

things falling into places
as though they were meant to be
and the days are growing longer
or so it seems
